There has been much published recently about the difference between buying young horses in Germany and in the U.S. The experts agree that the quality of our U.S. bred warmbloods are comparable to those in Germany, but the way they are started under saddle is not. The biggest problem for U.S. breeders seems to be in the correct starting of the youngsters they have bred and raised. In Germany, there are many training centers that specialize in starting three year olds and whose trainers are known for their expertise in bringing on young horses, preparing them for the young horse classes in jumping and dressage, for mare performance tests, and to present to prospective buyers. Our trainer, Verena Stock, is a Bereiter with extensive experience starting young sport horses in her native Hanover. She has shown horses successfully in Germany for ten years in both Dressage and Show Jumping classes. She was also a test rider at the 2002 100-Days Stallion Test at Paxton Farm, Ohio and a Guest Rider in 2007. Verena has earned the German Silver and Bronze Performance Awards and USDF Bronze and Silver Medal as well as her Trainer's "A" License. She has qualified horses for us for the National Young Horse Championships in Kentucky in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. We are able to offer training to interested breeders who want to get their young horses started correctly. We can also help you to market your young prospect while he is at our farm for training. We can also prepare and show them in young horse classes, either in dressage, hunters or jumpers. To ensure premium care, space is limited and preference is given to offspring of the stallions standing at Woodridge Farm. Full board and training, including sales video, is approximately $1000/month
